The ICF-C318 has a nice sleek finish of white gloss, and its compact design is beautifully crafted to match any interior without taking up too much space. It's very handy and easy to use, and with the dimensions of 155 x 82.8 x 151.5mm, you won't have any problems fitting it on your bedside table with the lamp, a bottle of wine, and your favorite pocket book. It's also extremely lightweight with a mere weight of 1.2 pounds, easy enough to carry to different rooms, and even to different places if you're out for travel. However, it does depend on a power supply, but the lithium facts battery back-up serves great as a savior for power outages and plug problems.
Nonetheless, the Volt is not something in GM's immediate plans. The idea for the Volt would require that a cost efficient 400-lb lithium-ion battery be found. lithium facts-ion batteries of this size are not currently available. Further advances in battery technology would be required to allow GM to consider making the Volt a production car. These are enhancements that could occur in as little as a year, or as many as 20 years. GM has stated that they feel the technology is almost there, yet a vehicle like this is probably about a decade away.
The lithium-ion battery is light years ahead of the earlier batteries and considerably better than the Nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) or the nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) batteries which are still being used. These batteries are less expensive but the Li-ion batteries are far superior in three ways.
Why lithium bettery stock is this important? If you have a relatively new PC the only problem you will get are error messages relating to the clock on start up. No big deal. If your PC is older then a low battery could be a nightmare. I had a PC which once every few months refused to boot. Rather than take the PC in for repair or start replacing parts myself the first thing I did was look at the BIOS settings. It was soon obvious that the BIOS settings were corrupt (wrong bus speed). I put a volt meter on the battery and sure enough it was reading 2.2 volts.
For any new laptop, the battery usually comes empty. It's advisable to charge at least 4 hours non-stop on the first charging as it can prolong the lifespan of the battery. Also during the first charging, it is not advisable to use the laptop battery at all.
Battery chargers for mobile phones are notable in that they come in a wide variety of connector-styles and voltages, most of which are not compatible with other manufactures' phones or even different models of phones from a single manufacturer.
